The Happy Nerd Project (0 to 1000 Plus my ABC's)
When I was a kid, I loved Sesame Street. LOOOVED IT!! One day they had a film segment where they found the letters of the alphabet in the streets of New York. Apparently that made a huge impression on me because 35 years later, I started this Happy Nerd Project. It started in about 1996. Back then, I had a cool little film camera that I used to take photos of the interesting things I found. A lot of the cool things were letters and numbers. Those photos were tragically lost to a flood along with a lot of other possessions. So, I started over. This time with my trusty Samsung Galaxy phone. (Not a paid endorsement, but it could be. I'm talking to you Samsung. I just bought one of your computers too, Samsung!) ** Update: I never heard from Samsung so I own an iPhone and a MacBook now. Sorry Samsung.** Digital is definitely easier, but I sometimes miss film. These pics are randomly obtained. I didn't walk down a street taking pictures of every address number. I did a few times because I was walking and the numbers were interesting. But mostly, it was totally random encounters with my subjects. If I had found I had taken multiple pics of the same number, I picked which one was more unique. This may be a mildly insane project. Maybe that's a small peek into how my life has been. Some days, it feels like I will never finish this project. That's okay. It's fun trying. Anyway, here's Wonderwall.
